After earning my BA in Fine Art from San Francisco State University (SFSU) in 2008 and my Web Design Certificate of Achievement from Cañada College in 2010, I have found that my traditional mediums of choice are illustration and mixed-media textiles. While maintaining my studio practice, I've had the opportunity to teach fine art to children in a private school setting with students ranging from kindergarten through the fifth grade. Since the end of the 2008-2009 academic year, I've been able to refocus my efforts on other artistic goals, expanding my portfolio in fine art while also building up a collection of multimedia work.
Currently, I am pursuing different freelance opportunities in the web and graphic design field. My various projects often have my attention but I also enjoy heading out to a theater production, comic books, and writing. I am thankful to be living in an area where art and design is celebrated.

I enjoy creating art and design compositions that pose questions or make comments on a number of universal themes. Some of my favorites are identity, war, religion, disease, obsessions, and mortality. Symbols, both subtle and overt, are visual cues that I often employ in my work. One of my objectives in producing work is for it be available to all manner of people, whether it is in a gallery, on paper, on the web, or in the streets; I believe art is meant to be a part of an everyday setting.
With illustration, I embark on both abstract and realistic work. Ink is my preferred art material, followed closely by pencil and charcoal. While I find plenty of inspiration from modern photography or media, artwork from the Surrealist, Symbolist, and Romantic periods of art capture my attention.
The one thing I love most about textile work is the idea that the individual, when carrying or wearing a fiber arts piece, can become a moving art gallery. My standard practice with these materials is often one of modification, using mass-produced items and re-working their appearance in a significant way.
Whether for print or screen, graphic and web design projects are my artistic extensions into the world of technology. With such an adaptable medium, I find digital arts to be well-suited for my work with color.
