Image of the Month
1/15/12 - Weddings are always a special occasion and it was a great opportunity for me to complete a wedding portrait as a gift for my twin brother, Andrew, and his wife, Mariana. They were married on the 13th and it went off without a hitch. Portraiture is among my favorite types of illustration, particularly with graphite, and working on last month's images was just the sort of practice I needed. Check out the image in the Illustrations portfolio section as the first entry for 2012!
12/24/11 - Happy Holidays everyone! Lately portraiture and realism have been the names of the game. This month sees two new entries into the Illustrations portfolio: Holidays and Cassia. Both were completed on 8 x 10 paper but with different objectives. Holidays was drawn as a gift to friends of mine at Banana Republic while Cassia was the promotional drawing for a contest held in conjunction with Murphy's Library. Pen and ink have been my bread and butter for many years but I still love to grab the graphite and make attempts at capturing the realistic human form. Definitely a great challenge and a fun one at that.
What's in store for next year? Expect to see a new website for my brother, the Soz, and some updates to Yellow Taxi Cab California. The designs, drawings, and other shenanigans never stop!
